Do I need Building Regulation approval to install a wind turbine or solar panels at my property? Building Regulation approval is likely to be required when installing a wind turbine or solar panels. It is important that the implications of the additional load on the existing roof structure are considered carefully and appropriate action taken where necessary to avoid any adverse impact upon the existing building. Structural advice should be sought from an independent Structural Engineer. An advice leaflet entitled ‘Renewable Energy’ is available from our Guidance Notes section. Any associated electrical installation will be subject to control under the Building Regulations. Please click here for further guidance. |

Note: Consent will be required under Planning / Listed Building Legislation and you are advised to investigate further before commencing work. |
