The Big Care Debate

Following the success of last year's Who Pays For Care conference, the Isle of Wight Council has joined the Government's Big Care Debate which seeks people's views on the future of England's care system.
The Isle of Wight Council is hosting a Big Care Debate on Tuesday 27 October 2009 at Northwood House in Cowes between 5pm and 7pm. Anyone with an interest in England's adult care and support system is invited to attend and share their views.

All views will be collated and form part of the Isle of Wight Council's response to the Government's consultation questions. In addition to views gathered at the Big Care Debate, the council has also launched an online questionnaire and a Facebook page.
The Government is urging as many people as possible to take part in the debate, whether service users, carers, relatives or tax payers.
Cllr Dawn Cousins, Isle of Wight Council cabinet member for children, social care, health and housing said: "We hope people will join us on 27 October to take part in an important debate which will help to shape the future of adult social care. The current system is struggling to meet the needs of our society and it is important that we have open discussions about how the service can be updated, fit for the needs of modern life. If you can't join us at Northwood House, please take a few moments to join the debate online via consultations on iwight.com or Facebook."
