SITES AND RANGERS
How can I book an educational visit to Fort Victoria? The
Aquarium,
Maritime Heritage Exhibition and
Planetarium are privately run attractions, and you must contact them directly to arrange an organised visit. Many groups visiting the site enjoy our ranger tours and activities, and if you’d like to enquire about this or make a booking, Contact the
Countryside Section.
Can I book the barbeques at Fort Victoria?Yes, the
BBQ site is bookable and to ensure you get exclusive use of the barbeque facilities, you are advised to book –they are very popular on summer evenings and we strongly recommend booking well in advance. If you’d like to enquire about this or make a booking, contact the
Countryside Section or complete the
form.
Is it possible to have a memorial/dedication to someone on a Council site? There are limited opportunities to plant or erect a tree or bench on countryside sites, but not all requests can be accepted. We are unable to accept trees or plants as donations, but we will normally arrange for any memorial tree or bench to be installed. No plaques are permitted on trees but benches can be inscribed. For further information contact (01983) 823890. For formal memorial trees in the Arboretum, with plaques, we suggest the Council’s
Parks section scheme which you can find out more about on 823367.

How do I get a job working for the Countryside Section?Jobs for public advertisement are always advertised in the
County Press and on the
Council website, and in the
Countryside Jobs Service. We do not keep details of potential applicants on file, so please don’t send us your CV! For general advice on how to get a job working in the countryside, see
Naturenet.
