Support Costs
This section is about paying towards supported housing.
There are two types of support services:
Long term – home for life & sheltered
Short term – hostels, refuges & floating services
Short term services are free for up to 2 years.
If you get a long term service your finances will be looked at and an assessment will be done to see how much, if any, you can afford to pay towards your service.
You do not have to pay for Supporting People services if:
- you get Housing Benefit or Local Housing Allowance
- you do not earn much money and do not having savings of £23,250
- you are getting housing support for less than 2 years
You may have to pay if:
- you have savings over £23,250
- you earn a lot of money
