Please see below for longer term path closures:

Byways Open to All Traffic temporarily closed to motor vehicles
(pursuant to orders made under s14 (i) (b) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984):

Arreton:

A25 (St. George’s Down): Closed to motor vehicles between its junctions with Burnt House Lane and Public Byway A28 until 31 March 2013 in the interests of public safety due to the deteriorating condition of the path.

A28 (St George’s Down): Closed to motor vehicles between its junctions with Arreton Cross and Public Footpath A38 until 31 March 2013 in the interests of public safety due to the deteriorating condition of the path.


Brightstone:

BS106 (Brook): Closed to motor vehicles between its junctions with Brook Farm Close and the Military Road until 31 March 2013 in the interests of public safety due to the deteriorating condition of the path.


Chale:

C32A (Appleford, near Chale Green): Closed to motor vehicles between its junctions with Appleford Road and Public Byway SW41 until 31 March 2013 in the interests of public safety due to the deteriorating condition of the path.


Godshill:

GL30 (Bobbestone Farm): Closed to motor vehicles between its junctions with Lessland Lane and Public Byway NC33 until 31 March 2013 in the interests of public safety due to the deteriorating condition of the path.


Newchurch:

NC33 (Bobberstone Farm): Closed to motor vehicles between its junctions with Canteen Road and Public Byway GL30 until 31 March 2013 in the interests of public safety due to the deteriorating condition of the path.


Shorwell:

SW41 (Kingston): Closed to motor vehicles between its junctions with Emmett Hill and Public Byway C32A until 31 March 2013 in the interests of public safety due to the deteriorating condition of the path.

SW56 (Kingston/Dungewood): Closed to motor vehicles between its junctions with Atherfield Road and Kingston Road until 31 March 2013 in the interests of public safety due to the deteriorating condition of the path.



Byways Open to All Traffic permanently closed to vehicles:

Tennyson Trail from Carisbrooke to Freshwater Bay (Public Byways N123, N128, N136a, N139, BS4, BS10, BS44, S26, BS53, F33) is permanently closed to vehicles pursuant to The Isle of Wight Council (Tennyson Trail, IW (Prohibition of Driving) Order No 1 2006. A permit scheme is available to Blue Badge holders during summer months. For further information please contact Public Rights of Way on 01983 823777 or [email protected]



Long Term Path Closures:
(pursuant to orders made under s14 Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984):

Bembridge:

Public Footpath BB10 (path along the coast at Foreland Fields): closed between its junctions with Public Footpath BB13 (Foreland Fields) and Public Footpath BB14 (High Ridge) until 30 June 2013 due to erosion and cliff subsidence. Alternative route: Public Footpath BB13 (Foreland Field Road), Howgate Road and Public Footpath BB14.


Chale:

Public Footpath C34 (path/steps in Whale Chine to the beach): closed until 30 June 2013 due landslip. No alternative route.


Cowes:

Public Footpath CS35 (path along the coast at Gurnard Luck): closed between a point 57 metres north of Marsh Road and its junction with Public Footpath CS36 until 30 June 2013 due to collapsing sea wall. Alternative route: Marsh Road.


Newport:

Public Footpath N59 (St. Mary’s Church, Carisbrooke): closed between its junctions with Public Footpath N64 and Public Footpath N60 until 30 June 2013 due to dangerous wall. Alternative route: Public Footpaths N60 and N61.

Public Footpath N120 (footbridge on medina river walk): the footbridge approximately 600 metres north of Seaclose Park is closed until 13 June 2013 due to unsafe surface. Alternative route: on a path to the east of the footbridge.


Niton:

Public Footpath NT30 (Tunnels): closed until 30 June 2013 between its junctions with Public Footpath NT29 and A3055 Undercliff Drive. Alternative route: A3055 Barrack Shute and Public Bridleway NT31.

Public Footpath NT46 (Castlehaven): closed between its junctions with Public Footpath NT38 and the western boundary of Beach Cottage until 30 June 2013 due to landslip. Alternative route: Public Footpath NT38 and Castlehaven Lane.

Public Footpath NT47 (Reeth Bay): closed between its junctions with Public Footpath NT42 and NT49 until 30 June 2013 due to landslip. No alternative route.

Public Footpath NT48 (Puckaster): closed from a point 233 metres south of St. Catherine’s Road to its junction with Public Footpath NT49 until 30 June 2013 due to landslip. No alternative route.

Public Footpath NT49 (Puckaster): closed between its junctions with Public Footpaths NT47 and NT50 until 30 June 2013 due to landslip. No alternative route.

Public Footpath NT50 (Puckaster): closed between its junctions with A3055 Undercliff Drive and Public Footpath NT51 until 30 June 2013 due to landslip. No alternative route.

Public Footpath NT51 (Binnel Bay): closed between its junctions with Public Footpaths V99 and NT49 until 30 June 2013 due to landslip. No alternative route.


Shanklin:

Public Footpath SS3 (Luccombe Chine): closed from its junction with SS3a and the beach until 30 June 2013 due to erosion and landslip. No alternative route.


Ventnor:

Public Footpath V124 (Binnel Point): closed between its junctions with A3055 Undercliff Drive and Public Footpath V99 until 30 June 2013 due to landslip. Alternative route: A3055 Undercliff Drive and Public Footpath V99.
