The conservation area was designated on 15 December 1969 and was re-evaluated and amended on 11 September 2007.

Conservation Area Character Appraisal

The Isle of Wight Council has produced a Conservation Area Appraisal for the Newport Conservation Area. This document was adopted on 11 September 2007.

The Appraisal sets out the Council’s definition of the special interest of the Newport Conservation Area. It will be used as a basis for planning decisions, appeal statements and conservation advice.
