The conservation area was designated on 15 December 1969 and was re-evaluated and amended on 13 February 1991, and again on 01 December 2004.

Conservation Area Character Appraisal

The Isle of Wight Council has produced a Conservation Area Appraisal for the Cowes Conservation Area. This document was adopted on 01 December 2004.

The Appraisal sets out the Council’s definition of the special interest of the Cowes Conservation Area. It will be used as a basis for planning decisions, appeal statements and conservation advice.
