A Direct Payment is money that the Isle of Wight Council can give you. It is a way of getting the support you need. You can use it to buy the services and support you need.

The Council’s Adult and Community Services team can give you the money instead of giving you a care service. You spend the money on getting support that meets your needs.

More people on the Isle of Wight with learning disabilities could get Direct Payments.

Direct Payments are easy to get. If you meet the rules and ask for a Direct Payment, the Council must help you. Advocates can help this happen – to find out more about advocacy, click here to go to our Advocacy page.

Direct Payments will also be available to 16 and 17 year olds and to the family carers of children who meet the rules.

If you would like to know more about Direct Payments, contact the Learning Disability Team at the Adult and Community Services Directorate. Their Telephone number is 01983 566011.
