Information for Candidates

Individuals who wish to stand as a Candidate for election as a Member of Parliament are strongly recommended to read the comprehensive guidance notes issued by The Electoral Commission – please use the link below.

In order to stand as a Candidate the Acting Returning Officer must receive a fully completed Nomination Paper, Consent to Nomination, Home Address form and a deposit of £500 by the deadline for receipt of Nominations, which is 4:00pm on the eleventh working day before the day of the Poll. IF the date of the General Election is Thursday 6th May, then the last day for delivery of Nominations will be 4:00pm on Tuesday 20th April 2010.
