Safeguarding Children and Young People – Child Protection Liaison Officer Group 3

Target Group:
Those who have responsibility to coordinator and refer Safeguarding / Child Protection concerns on behalf of their organisations under the role of Child Protection Liaison Officer in settings i.e. the Local Authority, Probation, Youth Offending Team, Volunteer Organisations, School, EYFS or Childminding.

Course Aims:

To equip the CPLO with the knowledge to discharge their role as CPLO effectively

  • Identify the role and the responsibilities of a Child Protection Liaison Officer
  • Identify changes to key guidance and regulation including ofsted.
  • Understand information sharing and accurate record keeping
  • Discuss Non Accidental Injury's
  • Manage effectively a child/ young person’s enquiries.
  • Identify possible actions if there are concerns about children in order to safeguard and promote the welfare of children, including those who are suffering, or at risk of suffering significant harm.
  • Identify the process for responding to allegations and concerns about members of staff.


Intended Impact:
To equip the attendance with the knowledge to undertake their role of CPLO in line with national guidance.
