About the Site

This site is an unofficial backup of the old Isle of Wight council Website.

It holds the information that was on the site on 9th March 2013 and it will not be updated. The current version of the Website is available at iwight.com

The sole purpose for creating this backup is to make public information available to the public that paid for it in the first place.

A small group of Islanders came together became they worried that the re-launch of the council's Website would led to public information disappearing, after the council announced that one of "the main drivers for updating the website" is "to reduce the amount of content online and focus on what is important to you."

The site was originally developed by the Web team at the Isle of Wight council.
