Employers Roles and Responsibilities

Target Group:
All those with a leadership and management responsibility, this includes Day Care owners, Early Years mangers, and management committees

Course Aims:

All employers, be they public, private or voluntary sector, have a variety of roles and responsibilities – not just legal responsibilities – which, if fulfilled, can play a major part in building a setting that is both a great place to work and a great place for children and parents to come to. This highly practical and interactive workshop will introduce you to, and discuss, proven ideas for leading your organisation towards continued growth and success.

 

By the end of this workshop, each participant will be able to:

 

  • Describe the types of behaviours required to be an excellent role model for their colleagues in the setting.

 

  • Highlight the benefits of gradually introducing role profiles into their setting, as part of developing a culture of high performance and continuous improvement.

 

  • Describe the difference between their role as a leader and as a manager.

 

  • Identify the key factors involved in fulfilling their roles and responsibilities as a:
    1. Leader
    2. Communicator
    3. Motivator
    4. Coach and developer

 

  • Highlight the benefits of truly effective team working and the vitally important role they play in building and maintaining an effective team


Intended Impact:
Participants will be able to describe the main ‘purpose’ of their role and their ‘key result areas’, and the importance of determining how to measure effective performance

Course Trainer:
Phil Churchill - Phil Churchill is a highly successful management, marketing & PR consultant, trainer and journalist. As senior partner of Churchill Associates, Phil is responsible for the delivery of a wide range of services (primarily under the banner of organisational and people development) to organisations throughout the public, private and voluntary sectors. Over the years he has worked with and for government departments and local authorities, and blue-chip companies through to small businesses and new start-ups from a wide variety of sectors. Since 1997, when Phil was involved in helping to set Early Years and Childcare Partnerships (EYDCPs), he has built a national reputation within the early years and childcare sector, particularly in the field of leadership and management.
