Welcome To Bangladesh – learn more about the children of Bangladeshi heritage in your setting

Target Group:

Practitioners working within the EYFS, this includes day care providers, childminders and school based staff



Course Aims:

  • To develop awareness of the difficulties that children of Bangladeshi heritage face while learning and adapting to a new setting.
  • To gain an insight into our Bengali-speaking children's heritage by exploring and experiencing Bangladeshi culture, religion, history and language.
  • To explore bilingual resources to support new arrivals from Bangladesh in an early years setting, to use with Bengali- speaking parents and to provide opportunities for all children to experience the Bangladeshi culture.
  • To discuss strategies for supporting our more advanced bilingual learners.
  • To examine some of the differences between Bengali and English and to learn a few useful Bengali words.


Intended Impact:
Practitioners will feel more confident and equipped to welcome, support and include Bengali-speaking children in early years settings.
