Information Literacy for Children (and Teachers)

Target Group:
Primary school teachers, ICT subject leaders, librarians, those responsible for safeguarding, all those with an interest in safeguarding and technology.

Course Aims:

Aims:

  • To understand what constitutes information literacy.
  • To understand the importance of information literacy.
  • To begin to develop plans for teaching information literacy.

Outcomes:

  • To have an outline sequence for developing information literacy skills.
  • To have efficient searching skills.
  • To have website evaluation skills.
  • To be able to set up a customised Google.
  • To know about copyright issues and creative commons.
  • To know where to find free resources.


Intended Impact:

Schools will:

  • Develop a policy for information literacy
  • Begin to implement information literacy learning
