Forest School Enquiring Minds - Supporting the How and Why Questions Children Ask

« Back

Target Group:
Practitioners working within the EYFS, this includes Day care providers, childminders and school based staff

Course Aims:

  • An introduction to the Forest School ethos and its beneficial effects on learning and development within the EYFS Framework.

  • Health and Safety and practical implications of delivering EYFS outdoors; how to support children in their awareness and management of risk; linking to PSED: Self-confidence and self-awareness.

  • Activity ideas and techniques to explore the natural environment within EYFS, particularly plants, animals and the weather, linking to ‘Understanding the world: the world’.

Intended Impact:
Practitioners will feel more confident in delivering the EYFS outdoors

Prerequisites:

Please bring a packed lunch.

All of the sessions will be delivered OUTDOORS so you will need clothing appropriate for any weather conditions.  We recommend long trousers and long sleeved tops to protect your skin from nettles and insects, an extra layer in case it’s cold, wellies or walking boots, waterproof jacket and waterproof trousers.  You may get muddy, so old clothes are best.
