Marketing and Promoting your School

« Back

Target Group:
Headteachers, Governors, Members of the School Leadership Team, School Business Managers, and Finance Managers.

Course Aims:

This workshop will help participants understand;

  • Marketing strategies that work within the changing educational landscape.
  • How to use a variety of communication strategies to promote a positive image of their school.
  • What is best practice with regard to marketing in this digital age.
  • How to evaluate the benefit of promotional materials.

Intended Impact:

It will also enable participants to;

  • Devise and implement a marketing plan.
  • Monitor and measure the impact of marketing strategies.

Prerequisites:

In order to prepare for the workshop, participants are required to look for examples of schools in the public eye that are promoting themselves actively and positively through the media. The examples may come from the press but could also be drawn from school websites or other national, regional or local media.

They are asked to think about what you consider to be their personal strengths and areas for development in written and oral communication, particularly to a public audience? Which aspects of their communication skills do they need to practise and consolidate in order to improve their ability to promote and market their school?

Things for participants to bring:

  • A printout of the Building your Academy’s Brand (19 page document).
  • Copy of your school prospectus.
  • Examples of school newsletters.
  • A copy of the ‘marketing pre-workshop resource sheet’ sent with the confirmation.

Notes:
Lunch will be provided.
