PSHE Education in Primary Schools: Effective planning, teaching and assessment.

Target Group:
Primary PSHE teachers/coordinators

Course Aims:

Attendees will have a deeper understanding of:

  • best practice in primary PSHE education organisation, teaching and learning
  • how to plan high quality PSHE education in the long, medium and short term
  • how to incorporate meaningful and manageable assessment


Prerequisites:
Please bring a laptop with you.

Notes:
Lunch will be provided.


Course Trainer:
Jenny Barksfield - National Training and Development Officer at the PSHE Association. Following an 8 year career in the NHS before qualifying as a teacher, Jenny has worked in PSHE education for 17 years. She was Head of PSHE education and Citizenship at a large secondary school for 10 years before managing a project for the PSHE Association, exploring different models of delivery and developing resources to support planning and assessment in PSHE education. As Training and Development Officer, she leads the PSHE Association’s CPD workshops as well as offering individualised training, advice and support in member schools. Jenny is currently studying for a professional doctorate at the University of East London, researching leadership and CPD in PSHE education.
