Consulting with Children – listening to the child’s voice - for childminders

Target Group:
Prospective and registered childminders

Course Aims:

An opportunity for all Early Years Practitioners to develop key skills to ensure the views of children are heard and responded to.

  • To reflect on quality and how to consult with children
  • To develop essential skills in receiving, interpreting and responding to young children
  • To explore skills in listening to children
  • To explore practical ways and materials needed to extend this practice
  • To explore the role of the adult and their interaction with the child
  • To make links with the Early Years Foundation Stage
  • To discover how listening and responding can ease transitions


Intended Impact:
To enable practitioners to effectively communicate with children, in order that children are able to have a voice and feel a connection in the setting.

Prerequisites:

EYFS and Development Matters.

Please bring a copy of the EYFS document.

Course Trainer:
Laura Henry - Trainer – Childcare Consultancy. Founder of The Childcare Consultancy, Laura is recognised as a leading authority on Early Years provision. She is a former teacher and Ofsted inspector and has over 20 years experience. A popular trainer and author, Laura has a passion for Early Years Foundation Stage and management policies. She is also a regular contributor to Nursery World and other trade publications.
