FOI/DPA/Protective Marking

Target Group:
The course is suitable for any new staff, as well as those that require a refresher on information governance issues, also staff who become more involved in dealing with personal information and/or requests for information.

Course Aims:
A training event to provide an overview of the Freedom of Information Act; Data Protection Act and Protective Marking. Delegates should gain a general understanding of all relevant policies and legislation to enable them to manage information effectively and to ensure that all requests for information are dealt with appropriately.

LEARNING OUTCOMES

  • A general understanding of the Freedom of Information Act and knowledge of how to deal with requests for information in accordance with the act and the Councils policy.
  • An understanding of how personal data must be managed to ensure compliance with the Data Protection Act in accordance with the Councils policy.
  • Awareness of the Protective Marking Policy and related ICT policies to ensure the protection of sensitive information.
