Supervision in Social Work CANCELLED

Target Group:
Supervisors of staff or volunteers working within social work and social care including NQSW’s.

Course Aims:

The direct supervision training will focus on core supervision skills with an emphasis on supporting social workers in children’s services to exercise sound professional judgment in their practice with children and families.

  • Understand the impact of supervision on outcomes for service users 
  • Describe the importance and key elements of effective supervision for social workers
  • Recognise the challenges and stages of transition from student to experienced practitioner 
  • Understand the 4x4x4 Model of supervision 
  • Describe and rehearse the core elements  of reflective supervision cycle 
  • Recognise and rehearse the skills involved in supervising assessment work including the use of genograms and ecomaps 
  • Develop a social worker’s ability and confidence to practice authoritatively with complex cases 
  • Explore the interaction between practitioner, supervisor, and professional network and consider how this impacts on work with service users
  • Be clear about the impact of emotion and anxiety on practice, and develop skills in assisting social worker’s to deal with these issues 
  • Have increased confidence in using the supervisors guide


Intended Impact:
To improve the quality of supervision offered to Social Work/social care staff including NQSW’s

Notes:
A copy of the supervision guide will be printed off and given to delegates
ATTENDANCE AT ALL 3 SESSIONS IS REQUIRED
