Coaching has long been recognised as an effective method of improving staff performance, motivation and productivity in the commercial and industrial world.
This powerful and effective model of professional development can be used in education to build on, embed and sustain teacher’s continuous improvement.
This course is delivered in three interactive face to face sessions providing opportunities for modelling and practice, questions, discussions and exploring issues related to Coaching
Session 1: What is Coaching, types and models. Exploring the difference between Coaching and Mentoring, why Coaching is so effective as a sustainable method of improving pedagogy and practice across school and the GROW model.
Session 2: The Coaching Conversation-an interactive workshop exploring-the language and interpersonal skills and techniques of coaching, practising through role play and evaluating effective techniques.
Session 3: Planning-getting going with Coaching in your school, planning to implement an appropriate model, setting dates and deadlines and evaluating the impact.
Intended Impact:To ensure that colleagues have the skills to introduce Coaching in their schools to enable an effective and sustainable model of school improvement is embedded.
Prerequisites:Participants will need their own laptop with a DVD drive and headphones.
