MSAs Managing Behaviour

Target Group:
Any staff working with children/young people during unstructured times i.e. playtime/lunch times, wishing to develop their understanding of children/young people’s behaviour

Course Aims:

  • To have a clear understanding of the responsibilities and importance of MSAs. 
  • To be confident in encouraging positive behaviour. 
  • To be more confident in dealing with difficult behaviour.
  • To have a good understanding of the important role that play and playtimes have within the learning environment.


Intended Impact:

  • To support schools MSA staff in understanding roles and responsibilities of MSAs
  • To support the professional development of schools MSA staff in encouraging positive behaviour during unstructured times in school
  • To improve confidence in dealing with difficult behaviours
  • To provide an opportunity for staff to share good practice and develop solution orientated and supportive practice.


Prerequisites:

Resources Required

Schools staff - Prior reading and bring to course:

  • School behaviour policy
  • Home/school agreement
  • IEP sample
