Hantsweb Awards

Celebrating excellence in website design, accessibility and service

The Hantsweb Awards are run by Hampshire County Council and celebrate website excellence and the best internet services across Hampshire and the Isle of Wight. They play a huge role in improving the standard of online services, encouraging good practice and raising awareness of the opportunities that Internet services can offer communities.

The philosophy behind the Hantsweb Awards is that by encouraging and rewarding the best websites and internet services available and by raising their profile and the profile of their services, it is hoped that more people in Hampshire and the Isle of Wight will benefit from going online.

The Awards are open to any website based in Hampshire and the Isle of Wight and residents are encouraged to support their favourite local sites by nominating them.

Members of the Isle of Wight Council's Web Team collecting their Hantsweb Award in 2007Nominations for the 2009 Awards have now closed, but you can view a list of all shortlisted sites here. The shortlisted websites are currently being assessed by a team of judges with expertise and experience in their chosen field. Overall they look for good practice, accessibility, ease of use, relevance, and of course, great design. Three finalists will be chosen from each category in early January. Winning websites and services will presented with a Hantsweb Awards trophy and prizes at a special ceremony on 23 February at the Planetarium at Intech in Winchester.

Over the past two years www.iwight.com has not only been shortlisted out of an impressive list of 30-plus nominated sites, but the site has then gone on to the finals and beat off stiff competition in both 2007 and 2008 to win the award for Best Public Service website across Hampshire and the Isle of Wight. We are delighted to say that we have once again been shortlisted for the awards this year, so please keep checking back to this page for updated news on our progress!

The Hantsweb Awards provide a fantastic opportunity to highlight, reward and improve local websites and for local businesses to meet with likeminded enterprises to share ideas, so please take a minute to visit the website and support your favourite site.
