A timeline of key events in Island schools’ reorganisation from 2010 to 2012
2010SeptemberPupils who were in Year 4 stay on as Year 5 in their primary schools. Middle schoolscontinue to operate for years 6-8. High schools remain open (years 9-13). Parents receive application information for September 2011 admissions for rising year 9 (secondary). We will write to parents of all pupils in years 6 and 7 to advise which secondary school their child will be allocated a place at for year 7 and 8 in September 2011 (admission may also be sought to other secondary schools which have places available).29 OctoberClosing date for 2011 secondary school admission applications.NovemberParents receive application information for September 2011 admissions for new reception year (primary).DecemberAcademy structure for Ryde and Sandown secondary schools in place.2011 14 JanuaryClosing date for 2011 primary school admission applications. 1 March Parents informed of their child’s secondary school place offer for admission to year 9 in September 2011. Parents informed of their secondary school child’s place allocation for year 7 and 8 in September 2011. 18 April Parents informed of their child’s primary school place offer for admission to schools in September 2011.AugustAll middle and high schools other than Christ The King will close.September The new secondary schools open with their full 11 to19 age range.
