WHAT’S HAPPENING WHEN?

A timeline of key events in Island schools’ reorganisation from 2010 to 2012

2010

September

Pupils who were in Year 4 stay on as Year 5 in their primary schools. Middle schools
continue to operate for years 6-8. High schools remain open (years 9-13). Parents receive application information for September 2011 admissions for rising year 9 (secondary).

We will write to parents of all pupils in years 6 and 7 to advise which secondary school their child will be allocated a place at for year 7 and 8 in September 2011 (admission may also be sought to other secondary schools which have places available).

29 October

Closing date for 2011 secondary school admission applications.

November

Parents receive application information for September 2011 admissions for new reception year (primary).

December

Academy structure for Ryde and Sandown secondary schools in place.



2011

14 January

Closing date for 2011 primary school admission applications.

1 March

Parents informed of their child’s secondary school place offer for admission to year 9 in September 2011. Parents informed of their secondary school child’s place allocation for year 7 and 8 in September 2011.

18 April

Parents informed of their child’s primary school place offer for admission to schools in September 2011.

August

All middle and high schools other than Christ The King will close.


September

The new secondary schools open with their full 11 to19 age range. Pupils who were in year 5 stay on as year 6 in their primary schools completing their full 4 to 11 age range. Parents receive application information for September 2012 admissions
for new reception year (primary) and rising year 7 (secondary).

28 October

Closing date for all school 2012 school admission applications.



2012

March

Parents informed of their child’s school placement for admission to schools in September 2012.

September

Two tier system fully in place with a year 7 transfer from primary to secondary.
