The Island’s Trading Standards Service is under a duty to maintain standards of trade established by a legal framework laid down in approximately 60 Acts and 600 sets of Regulations. Almost 200 European Directives also apply.
All of our responsibilities can be found here, including a list of the legislation that we enforce.
We have adapted the principles of good enforcement practice set out in a concordat between local and central government. We help businesses comply but take firm action against those who flout the law or act irresponsibly.
All of our policies can be found in this section.
