Agriculture (Feed Stuffs & Fertilisers)

Recently there has been an increase in legislation designed to protect the food chain from plough to plate and farm to fork. As a consequence The Trading Standards Service has a responsibility to advise and inspect feed and fertilizer businesses, to investigate feed hazards and to issue Registration or Approval to businesses that grow, use, store, market, sell or transport animal feeds.

Trading Standards Service Registration or Approval is necessary when businesses with feed concerns undertake certain activities. Please note that the obligation to be Registered or Approved is in accordance with EC Feed Hygiene Regulation 183/2005 which has replaced and extended the requirements of EC Directive 95/69 as was implemented by The Feeding Stuffs (Establishments and Intermediaries) Regulations 1999.

Please note that any feed business that manufactures, intends to manufacture or supplies feed additives, premixtures or feedingstuffs that contain these substances, or which contain a veterinary medicinal product, must be Approved by the Veterinary Medicines Directorate. To seek said Approval please contact The Veterinary Medicines Directorate on 01932 336911 or email [email protected]
