Opting-out

• You can leave the LGPS at any time by writing to your employer (or download an opting out form by clicking here and return it to the Pensions Office, County Hall, Newport)
• You will only be able to get a refund of your contributions if you have been a member for less than three months.
• If you opt out of the scheme after three months, you will get a deferred pension, payable when you retire. You can transfer this pension to another provider.
• You can choose to re-join the scheme after opting out
