| Subgroups The work on identifying the subgroup priorities had been place on a spread sheet and passed to members. Sharon explained about developing a work plan and how this reflects what the Youth Council wants to achieve. The youth council decided to collectively agree the key priority for each sub group. These were agreed as follows: Education and employment – Encourage work experience Health and social – Mental health -10 Improved attitudes between younger and older people. Environment – Recycling -0 Renewable energy Transport - Bus routes to smaller villages -1 More night buses. |
| Future Meetings and Events The youth council debated the frequency of meetings, the best night and time. Action: Following the last of the pre booked meetings on 23 May, Meetings will remain 5pm to 7pm on a Wednesday. Frequency to be last Wednesday of each month. Starting with Wednesday 27 June 2012. All future meetings will be at County Hall. Children and Young people Scrutiny Who should attend the next set of providers presentations was discussed. Action: Lawrie, Freddie and Kieron to attend, and feed back to next youth council meeting. Leader of Isle Of Wight Council The leader of Isle of Wight Council had expressed a wish to meet with the Youth Council. Action: to invite Cllr David Pugh (note: The leader will attend on 25 July). Liaison with other groups The group discussed the benefits of working with other representative youth groups on the Island. Decision: Youth Council in favour of closer working. Rock the Island Event cancelled due to lack of funds, Newport Parish Council no longer involved. Not for Youth Council to organise event, possibly to see if money might be available and to tie in with priorities. It could be a good awareness evening. Rob da Bank is known to support youth activity. Action: Laura to investigate possible connections, and how the Youth Council could support. |
