Welcome to the Pan Development Project

June 2009 Newsletter

The Pan Urban Extension is an exemplar and innovative housing and regeneration community project being delivered by the Isle of Wight Council in partnership with Spectrum Housing Group.

It will create an integrated community of approximately 1009 homes, with all tenures exceeding level 4+ of the Code for Sustainable Homes, Lifetime Homes and Building for Life (Gold Standard).

The project is located on a 21ha site on the south east edge of Newport, the Island’s county town, bordering Pan Estate, a low density residential area built between the 1950’s and 1970’s by the local authority, now partly in private ownership and part held by Medina Housing Association (MHA).

The new development will integrate with the existing Pan focussing activities around a shared centre where the school and local shops could be enhanced and the recreation ground transformed into a new park and multi-purpose community facility.

The Pan Urban Extension will be a benchmark development for the Island and beyond creating a single, cohesive and sustainable community building on the many improvements already made to the lives of residents since Pan was granted Pathfinder status.
