PARISH REGISTERS

Below is a list of parishes and the approximate covering dates (there are gaps where records do not survive) for the parish registers held by the I.W. Record Office.

We are currently in the process of adding the catalogues for both parish records and parish registers to our web site.

A complete catalogue for the parish of Arreton for both parish records and parish registers is now available.

Catalogues of parish registers are now available for most parishes. To access a catalogue click on the name of the parish in which you are interested.

All the entries in the parish registers (from 1539 - 1900) have been recorded in our Personal Names Index. This is a card index that can be consulted in the Record Office's Search Room.

Burial records from 1900 have been indexed by Mr D Gladdis using the original parish records held on deposit in the Record Office. This database can be accessed by clicking here

The majority of the original parish registers have been microfilmed, and members of the public, who wish to consult the registers or print copies of actual entries, are advised to book a microfilm viewer or printer in advance.
