It's been a record breaking year for Team Isle of Wight at the World Island youth Games that took place in Majorca last week.
Sponsored by Wightlink and with funding from the Youth Opportunities Fund, the Isle of Wight sent 15 young athletes to compete in the competition, who took on their counterparts from 17 Islands in a range of sports including athletics, swimming and sailing.
The team exceeded all expectations by returning with five medals, the largest ever total won by the Isle of Wight since the competition began.
Athlete Will Newham ran a perfect tactical race to bring home the gold medal in the 1500m. He just missed out on a second medal when finishing 4th in the 3000m.
Callum Woon was a double medal winner, picking up silver in the Hammer and bronze in the Shot Putt.
His achievements were matched by Nick Percy, who secured silver in the Shot Putt and bronze in the Hammer.
Isle of Wight Council Community Development Officer Lee Matthews accompanied the team out to Majorca. He said "The Isle of Wight can be very proud of the team who did so well in the face of very stiff competition.
"We had hoped to win a couple of medals, so to come home with more than double the amount we won in 2007 shows how far the Isle of Wight has come and is a reflection of the growing standard of sports stars we have here.
"The World Island Youth Games provide young athletes with an international platform to perform at, giving invaluable experience ahead of the NatWest Island Games and other sporting events. There is no reason why our successful athletes cannot go on to repeat their successes in two years time, when we host the NatWest Island Games"
Most of the athletes who went to Majorca are part of Isle of Wight Council's Gifted and Talented programme.
