Isle of Wight Council's award winning website - www.iwight.com - has seen a massive number of visitors in just six days as local residents logged on to get the latest information such as school and road closures.
Since the Island saw significant snow fall on the afternoon of Tuesday 5 January, almost 2.3m page views were recorded on the site with more than 175,000 visitors logging on.
The vast majority logged on to the pages containing information about school closures and roads and the website continues to attract tens of thousands of visitors and hundreds of thousands of page views each day.
Isle of Wight Council Cabinet member responsible for customer service and communications Tim Hunter-Henderson said "The Internet is a very important tool for getting information out to the public, especially in times when residents want important news about their child's school or information regarding which roads are clear.
"The site has been constantly updated 24 hours a day since the adverse weather first arrived, and the sheer volume of visitors and page views on iwight.com demonstrates the public, and indeed the local media, look to the council's website to provide up to date information.
"I would also like to thank the local and regional media covering the Isle of Wight who have worked very closely with the council's communications team to regularly provide updates to the public - it really has been a real team effort between everyone to keep the Island's population updated"
