His Royal Highness was met by the Island's Chief Fire Officer Paul Street who introduced Cllr Barry Abraham, Isle of Wight Council cabinet member with responsibility for the fire service and the station's firefighters.

The Prince was then introduced to members of the Youth Engagement Scheme who run a programme called LIFE (Local Intervention Fire Education). The young people involved demonstrated the skills they have learned during the programme, showing their knowledge of equipment used by the fire and rescue service.
