Dear Resident 16 February 2012 I am pleased to report that the planned improvements to Seaclose Park are progressing very well and the newly built shower facilities and toilet block are in use plus the new Netball pitch and Shower and changing facities are being well used. I am currently in discussion with the IWC officers and the police hoping we can find funding to install a CCTV camera in the area as sadly incidents of crime and disorder are still being reported. Newport North is a vast ward and I have three distinct police local action group areas to cover and I am pleased to report I meet regularly with all the local police officers and we have established good communication links and a sound working relationship. PC Joe Finch covers the centre of Newport and PC Michael Hughes covers the Pan Fairlee area with the East Cowes police covering South Whippingham. I have recently been co opted to the Whippingham Parish Council to ensure those areas of my ward that are outside Newport are well represented.This includes the East Cowes Road and Island Harbour estates. I am currentlyworking to ensure the Guildhall in the centre of our County Town is well maintained and the decline of the building is halted and attention is given to ensure it is renovated.I am currently in discussions with the IWC with regard to the future usage and refurbishment of this iconic building which is such a great part of our Island heritage. With regard to the Isle of Wight Festival I am currently working with NPC and am meeting with the organisers in April and will ensure the many queries and suggestions I have received about last years event is included in the discussions. We now have a Seaclose Park Community Notice Board fully operational and any information you may wish posted do send me the details either in hardcopy or by e mail and I will ensure it is displayed. I also have regular contact with the Chair of the Esat Cowes Road Residents Association and with the Secretary of the Island Harbour Residents Association plus keeping in touch with the two parishes and have gained through this contact a good overview of the matters that need attention but do please contact me if I can help at all or if you reguire more details and information re my work to date.
