Biography: Welcome to my website page and can I begin by informing you that I am the ward councillor for Chale, Niton an Whitwell and proud to represent the area where I live on the Isle of Wight Council.

I have provided my annual report (May 2012) which is available on the website as well but in addition would like to take this opportunity to share with you some developments since then which have affected my role in the council.

Police and Crime Panel

I have recently been elected as the chair of the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Police and Crime Panel (PCP) which will be overseeing the work of the new Police and Crime Commissioner (PCC) when they are elected in November. This is an interesting role for me, with a background in policing, and will enable me to ensure the interests of the Island are represented and considered within the wider remit of the PCC.

Cabinet member

I am now also a member of the cabinet of the Isle of Wight Council with specific overview of public health, community safety and local services - which includes Island Heritage. This position has given me a greater level of influence on the council and coming from a ward area with important areas of heritage I am keen to develop this aspect for the wider Island community. I am already working with officers to develop an Island Heritage Strategy which I will be presenting to the council in due course.

And finally ...

If you have any isues of concerns you wish to raise with me either in relation to my ward area or my wider council remit please do not hesitate to contact me.

Councilor Dave Stewart
