The June 4th 2009 election was a victory for everyone in Ventnor East who wanted to see real change for this town. I said in my pre-election address that if elected I would work hard to represent the views of Ventnor residents in County Hall and I will be true to my promise.

I have joined the Isle of Wight Independent Group, which is a loose affiliation of all 10 non-party political councillors, whose sole objective is to put the needs of their residents' first. Our group has no permanent leader and was formed only to ensure 'Independents' receive fair proportionality in the allocation of seats within committees.

I intend to do all I can to progress my election pledges and in particular work to ensure that Ventnor is not further marginalised in any respect. By electing me, this town has rejected the proposed schools reorganisation and I will look for ways to reduce the impact that the proposed changes will have on our area. I am also keen to ensure that the infrastructure of our town is safeguarded and developed.

I have been appointed as an Independent member to the Schools and Young Peoples Scrutiny Committee. Both of these posts will allow me to help shape and influence the policies of the Isle of Wight Council.
