2. FIND OUT about us and what we do. Our website has lots of information about the kind of services that the Council provides the community, see what you can find out about the department you are applying to.
3. READ the job description and person specification carefully and THINK about your answers before filling out the application form.
4.FILL IN the application form as neatly and clearly as possible, in black ink. You may be able to complete the application online it will be detailed in the job advert if you can.
5. SEND the application form back to the section or person detailed in the advert and check that you have marked the envelope correctly.
6. If you are invited to attend an interview, TURN UP on time. If you running late always try to TELEPHONE ahead to let the interviewer know.
7.DRESS tidily and smartly. We don’t expect you to go out a buy a new suit for an interview with us but equally we don’t expect you to come to the interview wearing clothes you would wear on a night out or to the beach!
8.BE positive, confident and enthusiastic about the job.
9. ASK any questions about the job. Think about these beforehand. You’ll normally be given the chance to do this at the end of the interview.
10. NEVER lie about your qualifications or job experience (or anything!) either on the application form or during the interview you will get caught out!
