The Isle of Wight Trading Standards have produced a list of useful links of 'Teacher Resources', that provide topics, lesson plans, flash cards etc. and resources that form part of the Citizenship and PSHE Curriculum:
Ask CEdRIC is a valuable guide for teachers, covering the framework for consumer education as part of Citizenship and PSHE, for Key Stages 1 to 4. It sets out the objectives, possible activities and the desired outcomes.
WiseGuys is a website that has been developed to provide teachers with a comprehensive resource to deliver parts of the Citizenship/PHSE curriculum to students in specialist provision schools.
Kent Trading Standards have created the Smart Shopper's Guide to Consumer Rights, designed to be run by a Teacher. It features lesson plans and teacher's notes for each topic, to enable a complete course with a minimum of preparation.
Liverpool Victoria House at Streetwise have a Home Safety Game, designed to educate children at Key Stages 1 and 2 in home safety. It is an interactive online game on home safety, and features a 'Teacher’s Pack' guide to the game, including an overview of the objectives and activity sheets.
Talking Shop is a real-time, role play activity via the internet on consumer education, and consumer rights. It's interactive, up-to-date, and fun! You can email [email protected] for a FREE demonstration CD.
Adult education resources are available from Skilled to go which uses real life consumer situations such as choosing a mobile phone, to helping learners develop consumer skills, knowledge and confidence alongside literacy and numeracy.
