Consumer Advice

Consumer advice is provided by the Citizens Advice Bureau through their Consumer helpline for the Isle of Wight. Click here to find more help and assistance with your enquiry.

The Isle of Wight Trading Standards Service, in partnership with other agencies, is supporting Parish and Town Councils to create No Cold Calling Zones on the Island. The objective is to enable residents to look after themselves on their own doorsteps and to identify vulnerable residents who need support.

Rogue Traders

We’ve seen them on the TV, but sadly rogue traders are operating here on the Isle of Wight. Unfortunately they see the Island as an easy target due to its high number of elderly and vulnerable residents.

Environment

The Isle of Wight Trading Standards Service recognizes that the care and protection of the environment is one of the most important issues facing society today. We take our responsibility to provide advice and guidance to business and consumers on the various environmental legislation which we enforce, very seriously.

Scams are uninvited letters, emails, phone calls and texts that trick you out of your money. Find out how to avoid a scam and what to do if you’ve given money to a scam.

Illegal Money Lending

The best advice for dealing with loan sharks is 'don't'. They're unlicensed moneylenders who charge very high interest rates and sometimes use threats and violence to frighten people who can't pay back their loan.
