Information for people working with children and young people in whatever capacity, whether as paid workers or as volunteers.

The Isle of Wight Local Safeguarding Children Board (LSCB) believe that keeping children safe is everybody's business.

The Children Act (1989) makes it clear that a child’s welfare is of paramount importance. Children's Social Care Services and the police have a duty to investigate where there is any concern for a child’s well being.

If you are worried about a child do not to keep it to yourself. You need to contact Children's Social Care Services, Children's First Response, or the Police immediately to discuss your concerns - they will listen.

If you are unsure that a child may be suffering but are worried that a child has suffered harm, neglect or abuse, also contact Children's First Response, who will discuss this with you.
