Impact Assessments

Our commitment to tackling inequality has informed decision-making by using our equality impact assessment process. We complete an initial screening assessment of all proposals and changes to policy to identify those areas which are likely to have a direct impact on services received by residents or staff when faced with reorganisation/service changes.  Undertaking an equality impact assessment on the proposals or changes enables us to identify the impact on equality between people from different backgrounds as defined by the Equality Act 2010 nine protected characteristics: age, disability, gender reassignment, marriage/civil partnership, pregnancy/maternity, race, religion/belief, sex or sexual orientation.

The steps outlined above fulfill the council's obligations under the Equality Act 2010 to show due regard to the need to eliminate discrimination, advance equality of opportunity and foster good relations.
