Health and wellbeing is defined by the World Health Organisation as “a state of complete physical, mental and social well-being and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity”.
Health and wellbeing includes all health services, adult social care, children’s services, and wider services such as community safety, education, employment, leisure and housing.
Health and Wellbeing is diverse and covers many factors. The government has legislated (Health and Social Care Act 2012) that all local authorities must form a strategic partnership board called a health and wellbeing board. These will be in shadow form until April 2013.
