Description of Service: Following a decision by the Isle of Wight Council on 23rd February 2011, all Isle of Wight Council operated Tourist Information Centres ceased operations on 31st March 2011. General tourist information will continue to be available after 31st March through the Isle of Wight Council’s Call Centre (Telephone 01983 813813), the official Isle of Wight tourism website www.islandbreaks.co.uk, and at the following privately operated information points: • Newport Visitor Information Point – Bus Station, Newport - PO30 1JZ • Ryde Visitor Information Point – Bus Station, Ryde Esplanade – PO33 2HE • Yarmouth Visitor Information Point – Bus Terminal, The Quay, Yarmouth - PO41 0NT • Seasons, 8-10 High Street, Ventnor, PO38 1RY In addition to their Visitor Information Points in Newport, Ryde, and Yarmouth Southern Vectis will be operating a mobile information service in the summer months in Sandown, Shanklin and Cowes. In the meantime, mobile Visitor Assistants can also be found in these three locations and can be identified by their branded red uniforms. Further details of attractions, events and things to do on the island can also be found in a wide range of visitor information publications. Look out for the Summer Pocket Guide a comprehensive guide to the island produced by the Chamber of Commerce along with a wide variety of other independent magazines and holiday newspapers available in travel terminals, shops, supermarkets, pubs and cafes, garages, libraries and other public places.
