Question: I am moving and my property will be empty and unfurnished until I can sell it, will there be any exemption under the new proposals?

Answer: The changes to the legislation abolish the 100 per cent exemption and give the Isle of Wight Council discretion to award a discount. The proposal is to award a discount of 100 per cent from the date the property becomes empty and unfurnished for a maximum of three months. After three months the full council tax charge is payable.
