Service Description: The Council Tax is due to be paid on the first day of each month. You can choose how to pay your Council Tax bill from the following methods: Direct Debit - we offer a choice of payment dates - 1st, 10th or 20th of each month or 1/2 yearly (1st April and 1st October). Automated Telephone Service - you can pay by Debit Card 24 hours a day, 7 days a week by calling 0207 1381970 Internet Payments - you can pay online with your debit card. Post Office - you can use your payment card at any Post Office free of charge by cash, cheque or debit card. Paypoint - you can use your payment card where you see the 'Paypoint' sign displayed by cash or debit card, cash payments only. Many have extra long opening hours, including weekends. Answer: There are a number of ways in which you can pay your council tax. •Direct Debit is the easiest way and there is now an option to pay this over 12 months instead of 10 which needs to be requested in writing. •You can also take your council tax bill to any Paypoint outlet or Post Office where the barcode on the bill can be scanned and the necessary payment made. •You can also pay your Council Tax on line through iwight.com and via 24 hour telephone automated payment system on 0207 1381970. The payment line is open seven days a week •You will need to telephone the council tax team on (01983) 823901 8.00am to 6pm Monday to Friday if you would like a card to use at the post office, or if you want to set up a Direct Debit. •Libraries - You can make your payments at Ryde, Freshwater, Cowes, Sandown, Ventnor and Newport Library using their self service kiosk. All you need is your account reference number and your debit or credit card.
