Information for Electors

Registered Electors will receive a Poll Card in early May giving details of the elections taking place in their local area, and giving information on how to vote or how to apply for a Postal Vote.

The Poll Card will give details of the electors Polling Station, and due to the recent Boundary Review, there is a possibility that your Polling Station may have changed, so please check you Poll Card carefully.

Electors who already have a Postal Vote will also receive a Poll Card, which will give details of their Postal Vote, including the address to which the Postal Vote will be sent.

If you are not currently Registered as an Elector, the last date for which you can apply for Registration is Tuesday 19th May 2009.

The lists of Candidates for the elections will be posted under the “European”, “Isle of Wight Council” and “Parish & Town Council” links to the left of the screen in due course, along with other Official Notices once they are published.


Postal and Proxy Votes

If you wish to apply for, cancel, or change a Postal Vote then the Electoral Registration Officer must receive your completed form by 5:00pm on Tuesday 19th May 2009.

Electors who wish to cancel or amend an existing Proxy Vote (where you appoint someone else to vote on your behalf) must effect the alteration by the same deadline, 5:00pm Tuesday 19th May 2009.

Electors who wish to apply for a new Proxy Vote must complete and return the relevant form by 5:00pm on Wednesday 27th May 2009.
