The boat came into service in 1954 and was
stationed at Seahouses on the Northumberland
coast (the station was then called North
Sunderland).

She was launched 69 times and saved 16 lives
before being replaced on July 18th 1967.

Driven by two 20BHP "Kadenacy" diesel engines, that gave her a top speed of 7.5 knots, she cost £15,040.

In 1967 the Grace Darling was transferred to the relief fleet, and in 1971 she was stationed at Youghal in Ireland. She served there for several years, before being withdrawn.
