Island Waste Services use a variety of items of plant and machinery to achieve the required cleanliness standards ranging from an operative with a handcart to large mechanical brushes. Small mechanical brushes are permitted to be used on the pavement with due care and attention to the safety of pedestrian users and at a speed of no more than 5mph (8kph). Both small and larger mechanical brushes are fully licensed and insured to drive on the highway.
