Special Events

Additional cleansing is carried out during special events organised by or run in partnership with the Council, such as Cowes Week. Private event organisers should arrange for additional cleansing to be carried out at their own expense so that they do not leave litter after the event.

During Cowes Week, the Council works in close partnership with Island Waste Services to keep Cowes High Street and surrounding streets clean. This involves a dedicated team with specialist vehicles who undertake litter bins emptying, litter picking and removing accumulations of waste throughout the whole nine day event. A further thorough cleanse is undertaken after the event.
