The Isle of Wight Centre for the Coastal Environment (IWCCE) was established in 1997 to provide a focus for the council's growing coastal and geotechnical activities on a local, regional, national and transnational scale. The Centre contributes to the delivery of strategic objectives and fulfills the Council's functions in the following fields:
The success of the Isle of Wight Centre for the Coastal Environment has led to the development of a standalone website which provides visitors with in-depth information about how the Island’s Coastal Management Team operates.
Discover more about coastal engineering and coastal defence schemes, the Isle of Wight Shoreline Management Plan plus everything you need to know in order to plan your visit to the Coastal Visitors Centre. For educational practitioners, a full education programme exists with a range of courses run throughout the school year.
The IWCCE is leading, or a partner in, a number of International, national and regional coastal and environmental initiatives. The IWCCE website details each of these initiatives and provides interested parties with a range of useful links to related groups and organisations.
